About this Release
Bodies was released in October 2009 as the lead single from Reality Killed the Video Star. Written by Robbie Williams, Guy Chambers, Jonny Douglas and Kelvin Andrews, the track marked his return after a three year absence from studio albums.
Produced by Trevor Horn, the song is driven by layered electronic textures, choral backing vocals and a dense, polished arrangement. Its expansive production signalled a stylistic shift towards a more synth oriented sound.
Lyrically, Bodies combines spiritual imagery with references to fame and excess. The song’s bold refrain and stylised phrasing contributed to its strong radio presence upon release.
