Tracklist
- 1. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) ft. Bryan Adams 02:44
Christmas Baby Please Come Home appears as track five on the Christmas Future disc of The Christmas Present, released in 2019. Written by Ellie Greenwich, Jeff Barry and Phil Spector, the song was first recorded by Darlene Love for the 1963 album A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector. Robbie Williams’ version features Bryan Adams as a guest vocalist.
Williams has said he first encountered the song through U2’s cover version and was drawn to its emotional intensity. He invited Adams to collaborate, citing his distinctive vocal style. The two had previously met while on holiday and developed a friendship rooted in shared experiences within the music industry.
Produced by Guy Chambers, the recording retains the Wall of Sound character associated with the original, incorporating brass, sleigh bells and gospel style backing vocals by the REP Vocal Agency. Williams and Adams alternate lead lines and join together on the chorus, building towards a celebratory finale that blends 1960s pop soul with contemporary production clarity.
I thought Bryan would be a good fit because he’s got one of the best rock voices of all time, and this song needs one of those voices.Robbie Williams
