About this Release
Dream a Little Dream was released on 13 December 2013 as the second single from Swings Both Ways. The song is a cover of the 1931 standard written by Wilbur Schwandt, Fabian Andre and Gus Kahn, and has been widely recorded over the decades.
The album version is a duet with Lily Allen, with Williams and Allen sharing verses over a restrained arrangement of piano, brushed percussion and strings. A solo version, featuring Williams’ vocal throughout, was also issued for the single release.
The single included a B side collaboration with Williams’ long standing friend Jonathan Wilkes. The pairing reflected their enduring personal and professional association, which dates back to Williams’ early career.
