She’s the One / It’s Only Us was released in November 1999 as a double A side single. The release followed the success of I’ve Been Expecting You and coincided with the launch of the video game FIFA 2000, which featured It’s Only Us.

She’s the One, written by Karl Wallinger of World Party, was produced by Steve Power and reinterpreted by Williams as a piano led ballad with orchestral accompaniment. It’s Only Us, written by Williams and Guy Chambers, presented a more upbeat, guitar driven pop sound.

Lyrically, She’s the One centres on devotion and romantic certainty, while It’s Only Us adopts a lighter, self referential tone. The pairing highlighted the contrasting strands of Williams’ late 1990s output, balancing earnest balladry with energetic pop.
