- 1. Strange Days ft. Robbie Williams 04:53
Strange Days is the third studio album by British rock band The Struts, released on 16 October 2020. Recorded in Los Angeles during the COVID 19 lockdown, the album was written and tracked in a matter of days, with a series of high profile guest appearances. Robbie Williams features on the title track, marking his first recorded collaboration with the band.
The song Strange Days was co written by The Struts and Williams, and recorded at short notice after the band reached out to him while he was also based in Los Angeles. Frontman Luke Spiller has cited Williams as an influence, and the collaboration emerged from a shared admiration. Williams contributes a prominent second verse and joins Spiller on the chorus, adding a theatrical vocal counterpoint to the band’s glam rock style.
Lyrically, the title track reflects the uncertainty and dislocation of 2020, pairing anthemic hooks with references to isolation and global disruption. The production maintains The Struts’ retro rock aesthetic, driven by electric guitars and a stomping rhythm section, while incorporating Williams’ recognisable vocal tone into the layered chorus.
We just reached out to him and he said yes straight away.Luke Spiller
