Three Lions 2010

Three Lions 2010 was released in May 2010 to mark the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The single is an updated version of the original 1996 football anthem written by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and Ian Broudie.

Robbie Williams contributed a newly written spoken section to the 2010 recording. His involvement added a contemporary voice to the re release, which retained the familiar chorus and structure of the original Lightning Seeds collaboration.

The arrangement preserved the song’s central refrain while incorporating updated production elements for a new tournament cycle. Williams’ contribution formed part of the Football Association’s promotional campaign during the competition year.

The single reached the UK top ten upon release. Although not matching the cultural impact of the 1996 original, Three Lions 2010 extended the song’s association with major international tournaments.
