Alcohol became the sixth single from Visions Volume 1 on 28 July 2023, issued with an extended mix and official lyric video. Written by Robbie Williams, Tim Metcalfe, Flynn Francis and Australian producer Harvey Miller, it was one of the earliest tracks teased during Williams’s 2021 Instagram Lives. A key moment in the album’s narrative, it captures Lufthaus at their most playful, merging club euphoria with wry lyrical storytelling.

Built around a warm synth bass and syncopated percussion, Alcohol channels the feel of a late-summer poolside anthem. The track’s understated funk comes from its rhythmic groove and the interplay of keyboard stabs and smooth electronic textures. The lyric “She don’t really mess with alcohol” evolved from the earlier demo’s explicit “f*** with alcohol,” a change made for release at the suggestion of Francis, who preferred its subtler swing. Williams’s vocal is relaxed yet seductive, hovering between pop melody and dance-floor mantra.

Both sensual and ironic, the song’s refrain balances intoxication with detachment, a theme reflected in its looping arrangement. The production halts briefly midway through, a beat of silence, before surging back with renewed energy, creating one of the album’s most striking transitions.
