About

Come Undone follows Let Me Entertain You on XXV, reimagined by conductor and arranger Jules Buckley. Originally released in 2003 on Escapology, the song remains one of Robbie Williams’s most personal and confessional recordings, now given a sweeping orchestral treatment that emphasises its emotional turbulence.

In this new version, Buckley replaces the electric guitars and programmed beats of the original with a cinematic score, highlighting strings and brass to underline the song’s dramatic arc. The famous line “So f*** you all” lands with even greater theatrical force, surrounded by surging violins rather than distortion. Williams’s vocal, deeper and more controlled than in his early thirties, carries the weight of hindsight, lending the lyric’s introspection a new maturity.

The orchestration’s opening passages bring a tone of calm before the storm, slowly building into the grand finale that mirrors the emotional unravelling at the heart of the song. Though softer in its edges, the reimagined Come Undone retains its core identity, a lament about fame, vulnerability and self-doubt reinterpreted through the perspective of experience.

“Recording these songs again gives them more gravitas, more weight. It’s good to see that I was better before than I thought at the time.”Robbie Williams

Among the most cinematic reinterpretations on XXV, Come Undone trades youthful rage for reflective melancholy. Its orchestral scope reinforces the song’s power, proving that even stripped of its rock grit, it remains one of Williams’s defining statements.

Lyrics

So unimpressed, but so in awe
Such a saint, such a whore
So self aware, so full of shit
So indecisive, so adamant
I'm contemplating thinking about thinking
It's overrated just get another drink in
Watch me come undone

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street
Come Undone
I pray that when I'm coming down you'll be asleep
Come Undone
If I ever hurt you your revenge will be so sweet
Because I'm scum
And I'm your son
I come undone
I come undone

So rock and roll, so corporate suit
So damn ugly, so damn cute
So well trained, so animal
So need your love, so fuck you all
I'm not scared of dying I just don't want to
If I stopped lying I'd just disappoint you
I come undone

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street
Come Undone
I pray that when I'm coming down you'll be asleep
Come Undone
If I ever hurt you your revenge will be so sweet
Because I'm scum
But I'm your son
I come undone

So write another ballad
Mix it on a Wednesday
Sell it on a Thursday
Buy a yacht by Saturday
It's a love song
A love song
Do another interview
Sing a bunch of lies
Tell about celebrities that I despise
And sing love songs
We sing love songs
So sincere
Yeah yeah yeah
Come Undone

They're selling razor blades and mirrors in the street
Come Undone
I pray that when I'm coming down you'll be asleep
Come Undone
The young pretend you're in the clouds above the sea
I come undone
I an scum
Love your son
Come Undone
Your gotta love your son
Come Undone
Your gotta love your son
Come Undone
Yeah yeah yeah hey hey
Love your son
I am scum
Your gotta love your son
