About
Do You Mind? was included as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Reality Killed The Video Star and later appeared as a B-side to the single You Know Me in December 2009. Though not released as a standalone single, it gained attention from fans and critics for its lively arrangement and satirical tone, recalling Williams’s earlier irreverent style.
The song was written by Robbie Williams with Kelvin Andrews, Danny Spencer and Richard Scott, and produced by Trevor Horn. It was recorded during the main album sessions at Sarm Studios in London. Musically, Do You Mind? features a brisk tempo, brass flourishes and a swinging rhythm section that nods to Williams’s pop-rock influences, offering contrast to the album’s otherwise introspective mood.
Lyrically, the song delivers a tongue-in-cheek portrait of celebrity arrogance and the contradictions of fame. Its spoken interludes and playful delivery evoke Williams’s trademark humour, with verses that mix self-deprecation and bravado. The track’s blend of sarcasm and swagger drew comparisons to his earlier work on Escapology.
“It’s me having a laugh again, taking the mickey out of the pop-star thing. It’s good to be silly sometimes.”Robbie Williams
Though absent from the album’s main sequence, Do You Mind? was praised for injecting levity into the project and demonstrating Williams’s range within Trevor Horn’s polished production. It remains a fan-favourite deep cut, valued for its wit and return to the charismatic energy of his early solo material.
Lyrics
All I've been eating is tobacco and chaw
They let me into your country though
Then I can show you what you're missing me for
I'm a night kind of animal
You're a reciever, what you testing me for?
I was scared, so I ate 'em all
They tasted good but they made me look old
And oooh, you teach like a toothache
I'm not here for my sake
How long will this Mickey take?
And oooh, there's heavy entertainment
Out here on the pavement
They're mad about you
Gotta get away
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
I'll fake you're famous if that's what you want
But to complete your own pulpit you must fill your own font
Bring some wine and some Sensodyne
Then you could be my favorite, no, no
Anyone fancy Monaco?
I'm a placebo, they're chasing me, fool
Don't be scared, you could eat em all
They taste good but they make you look old
And oooh, you simply cut cake
You could be a keepsake
Your jukebox will generate
And oooh, I'm heavy entertainment
In need of containment
I'm mad about you
Gotta get away
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Monaco
Anyone fancy Monaco?
Go get a portable recliner brain
Must take a photo for sure
Got her problems and a real long name
And she gets high on roller molar
And oooh, you teach like a toothache
I'm not here for my sake
How long will this Mickey take?
And oooh, there's heavy entertainment
Out here on the pavement
We're mad about you
Gotta get away
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Do-oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh you mind
If I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I touch you
Whoo!
Monaco
Oh, oh!
Anyone fancy Monaco?
Whooo!
