Eyes on the Highway appears on Under the Radar Vol. 2 and was written by Robbie Williams, Tim Metcalfe and Piers Baron, who also produced the track. It was first released on 1 August 2017 as an instant download for fans who pre-ordered the album. The song was inspired by Williams’ lifelong affection for the film Grease, imagining what might have happened to Danny and Sandy after their car soared into the sky at the movie’s end.

Williams explained that the track “is what I think happened next – the real next day, not Grease 2.” Its lyrics reference the film’s stars directly: “I wanna be John Travolta Jr, I wanna be Newton John.” The narrative follows the couple as they drive into the unknown, celebrating love, youth and defiance while hinting at the inevitable passage of time. The song’s refrain, “Keep your eyes on the highway,” becomes both a romantic and existential mantra.

Musically, Eyes on the Highway builds from a gentle opening into a sweeping pop-rock arrangement. Echoing drums and soaring guitars give it cinematic scope, while Williams’ emotive vocal performance adds depth and vulnerability. Critics noted the influence of 1980s power ballads, with its dynamic shifts and euphoric choruses reminiscent of Millennium and Love My Life.
