About
The standard edition of Britpop was released on 16 January 2026, followed three days later by Britpop Deluxe on 19 January. The deluxe version adds six new tracks, reshaping the album’s arc. The first of these, Selfish Disco, resets the tone with a declaration of private defiance, while the second, G.E.M.B (Green Eyed Mental Boy), sharpens that stance into confrontation.
Where Selfish Disco frames dancing as self-preservation, G.E.M.B is more abrasive, railing against outrage culture, moral panic and performative offence. Its lyrics revel in provocation, positioning Williams as both antagonist and survivor in a “square world” that demands conformity. The chorus doubles down on endurance rather than reconciliation, repeating its central identity as a badge rather than a slur.
The attitude is unapologetic.
“If you can’t convince them then you must confuse them” Robbie WilliamsIt is a line that captures the song’s core impulse: resistance through disruption, humour through excess.
