About
Going Crazy was released on 16 June 2013 as a single by Dizzee Rascal featuring Robbie Williams. The collaboration followed the Take the Crown campaign and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart, remaining in the Top 40 for four weeks. The track was also a hit across Europe, charting in Ireland, Germany, Denmark and Belgium.
The song fuses pop, rock and hip-hop influences, driven by a propulsive guitar hook. Williams delivers the melodic chorus, providing an anthemic contrast to Dizzee’s rapid verses. Their contrasting styles create a playful energy, blending urban production with classic pop sensibility. Williams said the collaboration “instantly sounded like a smash” and described Dizzee as “a real talent who only deals in bangers.”
The pair recorded the song in Los Angeles after Dizzee insisted that Williams be present in the studio. “He told me amazing stories,” Williams recalled, “and then said he wanted it to sound like Queen. It was a great night — I’ve never been so urban.” The single’s humorous tone was matched by an equally memorable video.
Directed by Swedish filmmaker Andreas Nilsson, the video features Williams and Dizzee Rascal leading rival street gangs of pensioners riding modified mobility scooters through the streets of Dalston, East London. Its comic visuals and eccentric choreography made it one of the most distinctive music videos of 2013. The pair also performed the track together at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and on the live final of *The Voice UK*.
“The song instantly sounded like a smash. I love Dizzee’s vibe, his energy and he’s a real talent. He only deals in bangers.”Robbie Williams
Going Crazy received nominations at the World Music Awards for World’s Best Song and World’s Best Video. While it sits outside Williams’s main discography, its humour, self-awareness and chart success made it one of the standout collaborations of his post-Take the Crown period.
