About

Kiss Me was released as a B-side to the single “She’s Madonna” in March 2007 and later featured on deluxe editions of Rudebox. The track is a cover of the 1983 hit by Stephen Duffy’s band Tin Tin, linking directly to Williams’s later creative partnership with the songwriter. Its inclusion highlighted Williams’s interest in early 1980s synth-pop and the lineage of British new wave that informed the parent album’s sound.

Produced by Kelvin Andrews and Danny Spencer, the recording stays close to the original’s shimmering arrangement but updates it with heavier bass and a more prominent electronic pulse. Williams’s vocal performance is measured, blending affection for the source material with the sleek production palette of the era.

Lyrically, the song remains a straightforward romantic declaration, carried by its hook and sense of emotional directness. Williams treats it less as irony and more as homage, situating it among the album’s other reinterpretations of 1980s music culture.

Stephen Duffy wrote it back in the day. I always loved that song, and it felt right for what we were doing on this record.Robbie Williams

Critics noted Kiss Me as a faithful but polished update of Duffy’s original, underscoring Williams’s willingness to revisit pop history through a personal lens. While not a charting single in its own right, it provided a connective thread between his collaborations with Stephen Duffy and the experimental tone of the album.

Lyrics

In my young life I have received
Callers though they were Christmas Eve
I'm disappointed and I don't know why
She gave me laughter and hope
And a sock in the eye.

In my young life I know something now.
I've never tried to create a wow
Wows are few frustration more common
Now I can feel it in my soul
That's why I gave the come on.

Kiss me with your mouth
Your love is better than wine
Kiss me with your mouth
Your love is better than wine
But wine is all I have
Will your love ever be mine?

Faces fall before my feet
Like blood onto a clean white sheet
When I grow old I won't forget
To innocence my only debt

Wow I feel so fresh today
Barefoot in the snow to make love in the hay
The stars are bright in the abyss
Now I can feel you in my arms
I explode inside your kiss.

Kiss me with your mouth
Your love is better than wine
But wine is all I have
Will your love ever be mine?

Kiss me with your mouth
Your love is better than wine
Kiss me with your mouth
Your love is better than wine
But wine is all I have
Will your love ever be mine?
