Written by Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers, Love Somebody captures the yearning for stability and affection that runs throughout Escapology. Conceived during writing sessions in the Bahamas, the song evolved from a simple ballad into an expansive mid-tempo anthem, weaving introspection with cinematic grandeur. Williams described it as “a song about wanting to love and be loved, but not knowing how.”

The arrangement builds from a sparse piano introduction into lush orchestration, with gospel-tinged backing vocals enhancing its emotional scale. Williams’ performance is both restrained and raw, delivering paradoxical lines that recall the classic composition The Windmills of Your Mind, a direct influence on the song’s circular lyrical structure. Its central plea — “I just want to love somebody right now” — conveys urgency and fragility in equal measure.
