About

Ms Pepper appears on Under the Radar Vol. 2 and was written by Robbie Williams, Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis during sessions for Heavy Entertainment Show. Produced by Metcalfe and Francis, it blends pop-rock energy with brass flourishes from the Atlantic Horns. Williams described it as a fictional love song rather than an autobiographical one, inspired by the excitement of youthful infatuation.

The title was originally a placeholder on Williams’ computer, labelled simply “Pepper” because it lacked an official name. When he decided to include the song on Under the Radar Vol. 2, he changed it to Ms Pepper to give it a narrative identity. The track’s character is imagined as a local girl from Stoke-on-Trent, someone unattainable, magnetic and ordinary all at once, capturing the spirit of teenage longing.

Musically, Ms Pepper combines breezy melodies with layered guitars and punchy brass. Its chorus “Do it, do it, you crazy angel, so in tune with magic, don’t be a stranger” is among the album’s most euphoric moments. A lyric video, created by fan Orly Brodey, features animated portraits of women in vivid colours, reflecting the song’s playful yet wistful tone.

“I just fancy someone madly in this song and want them to fancy me and then have sex with me. There isn’t a someone, hopefully just a good big tune.”Robbie Williams

Fans have often highlighted Ms Pepper as one of the strongest tracks on Under the Radar Vol. 2 for its cinematic structure and nostalgic warmth. Though Williams joked that he “should probably have put it on the main album,” its placement within the Under the Radar series allowed it to stand as a pure pop gem, free from expectation and rich with charm.

Lyrics

Not your normal city girl
Getting caught up with the world
Dressed up for the city light
She's going home, but not tonight

Yes, I've known her for a while
She kinda got used to my smile
It's gone in and out of style
And everybody knows it

You've been holding back
And there's some history to that
But we're on fire, fire, fire

Do it, do it, you crazy angel
So in tune with magic
Don't be a stranger
Cos I know that you know
And we get together
There's never been a better time
Never been a better time
Than now

Guess who found some courage now
Just to tell you what goes down
In my mind when you are not around
I hope you feel the same way too
Got a photograph of you
I always stop when I flick through
Man, it's such a lovely view
I don't want to spoil it

We've been holding back
It's such an unnatural lack
But we're on fire, fire, fire

Do it, do it, you crazy angel
So in tune with magic
Don't be a stranger
Cos I know that you know
And we get together
There's never been a better time
Never been a better time

Do it, do it, you crazy angel
So in tune with magic
You could be my saviour
Cos I know that you know
And we get together
There's never been a better time
Never been a better time

Why'd you have to leave me now
You don't have to leave me
Why'd you have to leave me now
You don't have to leave me
Why'd you have to leave me now
You don't have to leave me
Why'd you have to leave me now
You don't have to leave me

Love me, love me you crazy angel
So in tune with magic
Don't be a stranger
Cos I know that you know
And we get together
There's never been a better time
There's never been a better time

Love me, love me, you crazy angel
So in tune with magic
Don't be a stranger
Cos I know that you know
When we get together
There's never been a better time
There's never been a better time
Than now
