Williams described it as autobiographical, inspired by a carefree summer in 1993 or 1994 when his life still felt innocent before fame and addiction took hold. “It’s a tale of a lost summer, before things became way darker than they needed to be,” he explained.
The song recalls youthful freedom, friendship and hedonism, beginning with an ecstasy-fuelled day in the Derbyshire countryside. “We went to Dovedale and took ecstasy, walked around the park having a wonderful time, and then went to Leek for a drink until someone threw a pint pot at my head,” Williams said. Despite the chaos, the song captures that fleeting sense of invincibility found in youth. The chorus, “You’re high with your friends and you’re having a love attack,” celebrates that shared euphoria of living without consequence.
