About

Our Love was written by Robbie Williams and Stephen Duffy. It appeared in 2006 as a B-side to “Sin Sin Sin,” the final single from Intensive Care. Like many of the era’s outtakes, it reflects the pair’s interest in creating layered, reflective pop songs that blurred the line between irony and sincerity.

The song is built around an insistent rhythm and repeating chorus hook, with Williams’s vocal alternating between invitation and challenge. The lyric’s refrain, “Our love is better than their love,” suggests a mix of self-belief and defiance, a theme consistent with Williams’s fascination at the time with fame, belonging and the allure of temptation. Its ambiguous tone leaves room for multiple readings: a love song, a commentary on tribal loyalty, or an ironic take on celebrity exclusivity.

Musically, Our Love combines electronic textures with driving percussion, hinting at the experimental tendencies that would later surface more strongly on Rudebox. Williams’s performance balances confidence with tension, giving the track an undercurrent of unease beneath its pop surface.

Though never performed live, Our Love offers a glimpse of the edgier direction Williams was exploring as the Intensive Care period came to a close, bridging the melodic craft of that album with the sharper, club-influenced sound of his next work.

Lyrics

Just like we told ya
Our love is better than their love
We could make you famous
Why don't you come and join us

You don't need anyone to know
That you exist
You don't want anyone to know
You can't resist

All this time, all those prayers
All this hanging around
All these hopes, all these fears
All this, all this

Our love is better than their love
We could give you more love
There's not enough of
This thing called love, love

Do you believe that love will make
Everything alright
Do you believe stars disappear
When it gets light?

All these dreams, all these lies
All that sleeping around
More receptions, empty rooms
All this, all this

Our love is better than their love
We could make you famous
Why don't you come and join us
Why don't you come and join us

Why don't you come and join us
Why don't you come and join us

Aren't we cruel
Isn't it all so cruel
The things we do with love
And the things we do without love

You don't need anyone to know
All this time, all those prayers
That you exist
All this hanging around
You don't want anyone to know
All these hopes, all these fears
You can't resist
All this, all this

Just like we told ya
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
Our love is better than their love
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it

We could make you famous
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
Why don't you come and join us?
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it

Why don't you come and join us?
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
Why don't you come and join us?
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it

Why don't you come and join us?
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
Why don't you come and join us?
If you want love, you got it, you got love, you want it
