Punk’s Dead is a 2023 collaboration between Robbie Williams and the British duo Soft Play, the band formerly known as Slaves. Released as a standalone single in July 2023, it marked one of Williams’s rare ventures into contemporary punk-leaning material and Soft Play’s return after a hiatus following their name change.

The track was recorded in the first half of 2023, with Williams invited to contribute vocals after expressing support for the duo during their reintroduction to the music scene. Produced by Jolyon Thomas, the session blended Soft Play’s abrasive, minimalist punk approach with Williams’s more melodic interjections, creating a deliberately volatile mix of styles.

Lyrically, Punk’s Dead plays on provocation and identity, reflecting both the band’s history and Williams’s willingness to engage humorously with genre expectations. The arrangement centres on jagged guitar riffs, pounding drums and shouted refrains, with Williams’s sections adding contrast through cleaner vocal phrasing.
