About

She’s the One was re-recorded for XXV with a new orchestral arrangement by Jules Buckley. First released in 1999 and written by Karl Wallinger of World Party, the song became one of Robbie Williams’s most recognisable ballads and his second UK number one single. The new version preserves its classic sentiment while giving it a stately orchestral setting.

Williams’s vocal is sung in a lower register, reflecting the deeper tone of his voice two decades on. The updated arrangement trades the pop-rock production of the original for sweeping strings, piano and soft brass, capturing the romantic sweep of the lyric while emphasising its tenderness. The familiar guitar line remains, integrated into a broader symphonic texture that gives the song renewed depth.

Although She’s the One is the only non-Williams composition included on XXV, it continues to hold a special place in his catalogue. Its presence marks a tribute to one of his most enduring live staples and a reminder of the vocal sincerity that has defined his career.

“He sings it beautifully, but it’s not one of my songs, even though I sometimes pretend it is—just to annoy Karl.”Robbie Williams

Elegant and heartfelt, She’s the One offers a moment of stillness amid the spectacle of XXV. Its orchestral revival captures the timeless emotion that made it a defining song of Williams’s early years.

Lyrics

I was her she was me
We were one we were free
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

We were young we were wrong
We were fine all along
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

When you get to where you wanna go
And you know the things you wanna know
You're smiling
When you said what you wanna say
And you know the way you wanna play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying

Though the sea will be strong
I know we'll carry on
'Cos if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

When you get to where you wanna go
And you know the things you wanna know
You're smiling

When you said what you wanna say
And you know the way you wanna play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying

I was her she was me
We were one we were free
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
Yeah she's the one

If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
She's the one

She's the one
